- Hi everyone, I just wanted to share the new addition to our hamster cage which is a new shelf and boatloads of digging area for our two dwarf hamsters. One of them had just back from the vet and had her fur treated for mites so she looks a little rough but she's enjoying her new home! Before picture. We wanted to give our hams even more area to dig to a burrow, as well ass give them some more space for toys, so we added one of the shelves that came with the original IKEA bookcase and added brackets and some legs to hold the weight.
